First and foremost, this site is about strength training. My goal is to teach you everything you need to know to sustainably get in better shape than 99% of the population. It doesn’t matter where you’re starting or if you’ve ever even touch a barbell. The reality is that strength training is FAR simpler than most trainers/influencers/marketers make it seem (note that I said simpler, not easier). Most fitness information that you’re likely to come across is either ineffective, overly complicated, unsustainable, or all the above.

We will also discuss nutrition. This topic has even more misinformation and general confusion around it than strength training. There are camps that say carbs are bad, fat is bad, protein is bad, meat is bad, sugar is killing you, etc. There are even “experts” who say that broccoli is bad for you! If you ask 10 people what foods you’re allowed to eat, the only thing left in your diet will be ice. It’s no wonder that most people chase fad diet after fad diet while seeing little results. Once again, this topic is simpler than most people realize. You don’t have to give up all your favorite foods, and you don’t have to starve yourself. You’ll learn everything you need to achieve your goal weight and maintain it for life.

Other topics that will receive attention include: sleep, hormone optimization, and general health lifestyle factors.

The overarching theme to all of this is mindset. It doesn’t matter if you know everything there is to know about training, nutrition, and living a healthy life. Without the right mindset, you will fail. The mind is what separates winners from losers. Therefore, mindset and psychology will permeate everything on this blog.

Why should you listen to me? I will be the first to admit that I am not the world’s leading expert on strength training, nutrition, or any of the other topics we will cover here. That said: you don’t need to be the leading expert to get in amazing shape and live a healthy life full of energy and vitality. We live in an age of information overload, and what’s actually effective is only a tiny fraction of the total available information. I will teach you the 20% that will give you 80% of your results (it’s actually more like 5%/90% but that’s neither here nor there).

I’ve also spent thousands of hours training my body and researching training and nutrition, and I’ve tried countless programs and diets. At this point I am confident in saying I know what is both effective and sustainable for normal people.

Another key is that I believe that I am good at understanding complex topics, figuring out what actually matters, and explaining it in a way that makes sense to normal people. As I will keep repeating, the problem is not lack of information but lack of clarity and simplicity.

Finally and perhaps most importantly, I’m not trying to sell you something. Most health and fitness gurus are trying to sell you something, and that objective takes precedence over actually helping you. I would argue that it’s the leading cause of the sheer abundance of BS in this industry. In later posts I will name names and call out some of the more prominent charlatans in this space (there are many). My goal is to focus on what actually helps you, not my bottom line.
